Stacey Bussie
Born and raised in Iowa, Stacey Bussie has dedicated his life to public safety and community service. His law enforcement career began on December 4, 1989 with the DeWitt Police Department — the start of a journey that would span nearly three decades and two agencies.
In June 1995, Stacey joined the Clinton County Sheriff's Office, where he served with distinction until his retirement on March 31, 2018. Throughout his career, he developed deep expertise in Iowa law, firearm safety, situational awareness, and the practical realities of personal protection.
Rather than step away from service entirely, Stacey founded "Be Prepared Not Scared Iowa" in February 2018 — bringing his real-world law enforcement knowledge directly to Iowa residents seeking their Concealed Carry certification. He continues to serve his community as a part-time bailiff for the Clinton County Sheriff's Office.
Stacey's mission is simple: empower every Iowan with the knowledge and confidence to carry responsibly and safely.

Began Law Enforcement Career
Joined the DeWitt Police Department in DeWitt, Iowa — the start of a nearly three-decade career in public service.
June 1, 1995
Clinton County Sheriff's Office
Transferred to the Clinton County Sheriff's Office, where he would serve for over two decades protecting the citizens of Clinton County.
March 31, 2018
Retired After 28+ Years
After more than 28 years of dedicated law enforcement service, Stacey retired with an outstanding record of community service.
February 2018
Started Teaching Concealed Carry
Founded "Be Prepared Not Scared Iowa" and began teaching Iowa Concealed Carry certification — bringing real-world law enforcement knowledge directly to Iowa residents.
2020 – Present
Part-Time Bailiff
Continues to serve the Clinton County community as a part-time bailiff for the Clinton County Sheriff's Office.
